Mark Webber joined the Red Bull team after Williams did not want to pay him the sum that was originally agreed upon in the option year contract during the 2007 season. Heeding the advice of Flavio Briatore, Mark went on to search for another race seat.

Mark has a charity event under his name, called the 'Mark Webber Pure Tasmania Challenge', which aims to raise funds for cancer charities.

He broke his leg in the 2008 Challenge and was lucky to be able to recover in time before the new season starting in March 2009. However, it is yet to be seen if his injury would affect his performance.
