Sebastian Vettel drove for two teams in the 2007 season - first as a replacement driver for the injured Robert Kubica during the US Grand Prix, after which he was released to join the Toro Rosso team to replace Scott Speed for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

Vettel's inexperience reared its ugly head during the Japanese Grand Prix, when he was 3rd and right behind Toro Rosso's sister team - Red Bull -'s Mark Webber. In the heavy rain, he crashed into Mark behind the safety car. Many would recall seeing him cry at the pitwalls after the incident. After an investigation thanks to a video posted on Youtube, Sebastian's original ten-place penalty in the following grand prix was removed.
